Thermal Transfer Ribbons
Many different types of thermal transfer printing ribbons are available for both standard and Near Edge Thermal Transfer Printers.
These thermal transfer printing ribbons include wax, wax/resin, and full resin thermal transfer types. Wax and wax/resin thermal transfer ribbon types are commonly used on coated and uncoated papers, vinyl and synthetic paper label stocks such as Kimdura and polypropylene, and polystyrene.
The full resin thermal transfer ribbons are commonly used for higher temperature and higher chemical and abrasion resistance applications on label materials like polyester, polyolefin (Chemical Drum Labeling), and other extremely high temperature (500+ degrees F) label materials like polyimide (Kapton).
Standard Black and Color Ribbons are available, as well as ribbons that are used for Product Authentication and Counterfeiting Prevention. Besides Labeling, Thermal Transfer Ribbons are used for ID Card Printing.
Some thermal transfer ribbons also provide Clean Start technology where the first part of the ribbon is used to clean the thermal transfer print head to improve print quality and extend it’s life.
